Crash involving stolen SUV at Holman and Travis injures officer

HOUSTON, TX – An officer sustained injuries, and a suspect was arrested Thursday when a police chase ended in a fiery crash in Midtown Houston.

According to KHOU 11, the driver of a stolen SUV evaded an attempted police stop around 3 p.m.

After ignoring two red lights, the SUV struck both a police vehicle and a building in the area of Holman Street and Travis Street, which is just northwest of Houston College’s central campus. The SUV then ignited.

Medics transported a police officer to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

The driver of the stolen vehicle faces felony charges that include evasion of police, theft, and aggravated assault.

A full investigation is underway.
