Commercial truck crash on I-45 at Vauthier St blocks traffic

LA MARQUE, TX – A two-vehicle crash involving an 18-wheeler hauling rocks blocked the interstate in Galveston County last Thursday afternoon.

According to abc 13, the accident occurred shortly before 10:30 a.m. on the northbound side of the Gulf Freeway near Vauthier Street in La Marque, which is about 38 miles southeast of Houston.

The cause of the collision hasn’t yet been established. Police say that the semi dropped rocks across both sides of I-45, creating hazardous road conditions.

At this time, no injuries have been reported.

Officials worked to clear the roads and fully re-open all lanes of I-45 by around 3 p.m.

The investigation is ongoing.
