Pedestrian killed, driver arrested after Tomball Parkway hit-and-run

HARRIS COUNTY, TX – An adult male pedestrian died after a van driver hit him and then fled on Thursday night along Tomball Parkway, per the Harris County Sheriff’s Office.

Sheriff’s officials say the crash happened around 7:50 p.m. near the 18700 block of Tomball Parkway. The victim was reportedly walking through the grass beside the roadway at the time.

According to investigators, Alejandro Pereyra was driving north in a 2013 Chevrolet Express just before the collision. Reports suggest Pereyra drifted out of his lane, struck a curb, and went off the road.

Authorities report that the van then hit the pedestrian. The driver fled the scene and did not stop to help.

Emergency crews found the pedestrian dead upon reaching the scene. The man has not yet been identified pending notification of next of kin.

Sheriff’s deputies later located Pereyra at his home and booked him into a local jail. Prosecutors have filed charges against Pereyra for failure to stop and render aid (FSRA) following a deadly crash.
