Pedestrian killed in Houston hit-and-run on SH 6
HOUSTON, TX – A pedestrian died after a hit-and-run crash early Sunday on South State Highway 6 in west Houston, reports FOX 26 Houston.
Houston police say the crash happened at about 2:45 a.m. near the intersection of SH 6 and Westheimer Road.
Just before the collision, reports indicate that a black Land Rover was heading south along SH 6. The vehicle then struck a man in the intersection. According to police, the driver left the scene without helping the injured pedestrian.
The man died on location. Officials had not yet released the pedestrian’s name when FOX 26 reported the incident.
Police later located the Land Rover after its engine gave out. Investigators say the SUV had major damage to its front end.
Officers arrested the driver, 50-year-old Godspower Oniovosa, after finding the vehicle. Authorities charged Oniovosa with failing to stop and provide aid after a deadly crash.
