Man fatally struck by utility truck on Eastex Freeway Service Rd. in Houston
HOUSTON, TX – A man died from his injuries after he was struck by a utility truck on Eastex Freeway Service Road on Thursday, KTEN reports.
The incident unfolded around 7:25 a.m. A utility worker was reportedly working on lights below the overpass. The worker had gotten into his truck, made a sharp turn over a curb, and struck a man sleeping on the sidewalk.
The truck driver continued driving, but returned to the crash scene after being informed that he had struck the man.
The sleeping man died from his injuries.
Houston Police’s Hit-and-Run Unit pulled up to the scene, but has not classified this accident as a hit-and-run. However, they did question the driver, whom they immediately released.
Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences will release the victim’s name.
