Woman, 72, fatally struck by car along VA Houston Medical Center
HOUSTON, TX – A 72-year-old woman lost her life as a result of a pedestrian-vehicle crash along the Michael E. DeBakey VA Medical Center on Friday.
Houston police told Click2Houston that the incident happened at 4:40 a.m. The woman, who was using a walker, was crossing the 7300 block of Fannin Street when she was struck by a white Nissan Altima, traveling west.
EMS crews transported the woman to a hospital, where she later died.
The Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences is working to confirm the victim’s identity.
Police confirmed the 32-year-old driver stayed at the scene, showed no signs of intoxication, and was questioned before being released.
Police consulted with personnel from the Harris County District Attorney’s Office, who said they will refer the case to the grand jury.
