Driver dies after fiery rollover crash off Sralla Rd in Crosby

HARRIS COUNTY, TX — A man died late last Friday, August 11, after a single-vehicle rollover crash in southeast Crosby, according to the Harris County Sheriff’s Office.

Authorities said the fatal wreck occurred in the 13100 block of Sralla Road at around 10:00 p.m.

An early investigation shows the man was driving a Mercedes-Benz sedan in the northbound lane of Sralla Road when he ran a stop sign at the intersection with FM 1942 Road. After continuing northbound, the male driver failed to maintain a single lane, causing the Mercedes to veer across the southbound lane and travel into a grassy ditch off the west side of the roadway. As the vehicle proceeded north through the ditch, its front right side collided with a mailbox and the edge of a concrete driveway. The impact of the crash caused the vehicle to go airborne in a northerly direction until it hit a utility pole with its front right side and overturned. It continued north as it rotated counter-clockwise, ejected the driver, and then came to an uncontrolled stop. Authorities said the vehicle, which caught fire following the rollover, became engulfed in flames.

The male driver and sole occupant of the vehicle was rushed by Life Flight to an area hospital, where he was later pronounced deceased.

The HCSO’s Vehicular Crimes Division continues to investigate the cause of the crash.
