Woman fatally hit by vehicle on I-69 in SW Houston

HOUSTON, TX — A woman died Monday night after a hit-and-run pedestrian crash on Interstate 69 in southwest Houston, according to the Houston Police Department.

Authorities said the fatal incident occurred in the 7000 block of the I-69 (Southwest Freeway/South U.S. Highway 59) service road at around 8:20 p.m.

An early investigation by the HPD Vehicular Crimes Division indicates the woman was walking on a sidewalk along the road when she was hit by a 44-year-old male driver in a white Ford F-150 pickup who was turning right out from a private driveway. The driver initially continued onto the feeder road without stopping to render aid, but then returned to the site immediately after.

The victim, believed to be 45, was pronounced deceased on the scene by Houston Fire Department paramedics.

The Harris County District Attorney’s Office was consulted as part of an ongoing investigation. Officials have since determined that no alcohol or drugs contributed to the incident.
