Young woman dies after crash on Kirby Dr in west Houston
HOUSTON, TX — Authorities are investigating a single-vehicle wreck early Monday, September 11, in west Houston that claimed the life of a 23-year-old woman, according to the Houston Police Department.
The HPD’s Vehicular Crimes Division said the fatal accident happened at 960 Kirby Drive, in an area west of Buffalo Bayou Park, at around 1:55 a.m.
An early investigation found that the young woman was operating a black Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck eastbound, when, for reasons still unclear, she lost control of the vehicle. Moments later, the Silverado hit a curb and continued riding the curb eastbound until it crossed the median and entered the westbound lanes. The pickup then went on to hit a residential brick barrier in the area of 1000 Kirby Drive before coming to a rest.
Responding paramedics with the Houston Fire Department pronounced the victim deceased at the scene.
Officials said no other victims or vehicles were involved in the incident.
An investigation into the cause of the crash remains open and ongoing.
